Individual Memberships
Full Membership
Full membership privilages are afforded to appropriately qualified*, registered and affiliated* Physician Members, Professional Members and Practitioner Members as shown below. Full members have full access to the online member community and to the information and resources published by the Society. Full members can vote at General Meetings, can stand for election and can serve on the Board of the Society (subject to provisions as to the make up of the Board). Full members are also eligible for any ‘member discounts’ offered by the Society, for example discounts on conference registration, workshops and online learning.
- Physician Members:
- Medical Practitioner (GPs and Specialists)
- Public Health Physicians
- Professional Members (Masters/PhD level degree or higher in health related field):
- Practitioner Members (may include but not limited to):
- Dentists
- Dieticians
- Physiotherapists
- Nurses
- Pharmacists
- Podiatrists
- Occupational Therapists
- Psychologists
*Notes:
- ‘Appropriately qualified’ means a degree level qualification or higher appropriate to your profession
- ‘Registered and affiliated’ means that you hold registration or affiliation with a board, council, society or association appropriate to your profession/s
Application process
Application is straightforward and only takes a couple of minutes. You will need to provide details of:
- Post nominals (the letters after your name)
- Professional registration board/s and registration number/s
- Professions for which you are qualified to practice
- Your main profession
- Other professions
- Any specialty
- Any significant additional education or training
Information you provide will be checked against the public registers of the respective board, council, society or association you are registered with. You will not need to provide any documents unless we are unable to confirm your registration via an online search.
We welcome international members but if we are unable to check your registration online, you may need to provide suitable documents in English or with a verified translation.

Individuals who do not currently meet the eligibility requirements for full membership may wish to consider the following membership categories.
Student membership
Student membership, currently free of charge, is open to those studying towards a qualification which on completion, would qualify for Full Membership. Student members do not have voting rights and cannot cannot serve on the Board of the Society. Student membership is not applicable to those who already have another qualification that would qualify for membership.

Student membership is currently only available on a yearly basis until course completion.
General Membership
Supporters of the Society are not ‘members’ per se, but are provided with access to some of the member-only information and resources published by the society. Supporters can be members of the public who want to learn more about Lifestyle Medicine and want to help SPSLM achieve it’s objectives. It’s a great way to be kept informed while supporting our work.
For those who are not eligible for Full Membership, this is another way of staying in touch with us and supporting our work.
